Leshou Villa is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Lianyungang City.

Leshou Villa

Located in Seaside Park at the foot of Beigu Mountain, Xugou Subdistrict, Lianyungang District, Lianyungang City, it was funded and built by —— (1876–1942), courtesy name Junqing, a native of Ninghe County, Hebei Province. Originally a brigade commander (regimental leader) under the warlord Zhang Xun and the garrison commander of Haizhou, he later defected to Sun Chuanfang. After the Northern Expedition, the Nationalist Government appointed him as a major general consultant. He resided in Haizhou for a long time and became a local power figure. In 1917, —— hired a German engineer to design and construct Leshou Villa. The estate includes a three-story building with 71 rooms, designed in the European classical architectural style, along with an imitation European-style garden enclosing a lawn. The garden features a lotus fountain pool and a pavilion called “Xiangruo,” also known as “Wanghai Pavilion.” A stone gate faces south, with an arched entrance; the outer plaque reads “Leshou Villa” and the inner one reads “Rock Solid Coastal Frontier.” In 1938, the building was destroyed in bombings by the Japanese invaders during the War of Resistance. Two stone inscriptions remain in the garden: one is a poem inscribed and written by Huang Jie, and the other is an inscription reading “Rui Shi Wo.” The total area of the villa is approximately 5 hectares. There are also two air-raid shelters on the estate: one is located to the east of the mountain gate, converted from an ancient earthen stone chamber; the other is situated southeast of the mountain gate but was damaged during the construction of a railway overpass and realignment of the highway. Leshou Villa holds certain reference value for the study of Republican-era history and the modern history of Lianyungang City, and is also of significant importance for the development of tourism resources.

It was designated as a municipal cultural heritage conservation unit in the fourth batch of Lianyungang City in 2010.

The protection area is defined by the surrounding walls of the villa.

East to the curb of Haitang Road West, west, south, and north to 20 meters outside the surrounding walls.
