Xugou Catholic Church is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

Xugou Catholic Church

Located at the foot of Sheli Mountain on Xugou Street, Lianyun District, Lianyungang City, it was built in 1905 by French clergy sent by the Shanghai Diocese of the Catholic Church’s Xuzhou Diocese to select a site in Xugou, hence also known as the “French Church.” The church is European in style, covering an area of approximately 200 square meters, with part of it two stories high and the rest one story. It is still well preserved today. Currently used as a sanatorium for employees of the Ministry of Railways, the building holds certain reference value for the study of the spread of Catholicism and architectural art in the Lianyungang area during the modern period.

It was designated as part of the fourth batch of cultural relic protection units of Lianyungang City in 2010.

The control zone extends 20 meters beyond the outer walls of the building itself.
