Blockhouse Residences in Lianyun District

Located in Chaoyang Subdistrict, Zhongyun Subdistrict, and Yunshan Subdistrict of Lianyungang City, there are a total of nine such sites: the He Family Blockhouse Residence in Huangya Village, the Zhang Family Courtyard in Huangya Village, the Wang Family Residence in Dajinwan, the Sun Family Watchtower in Xin County, the Gu Family Residence in Jinsu, the Wang Family Residence in Huangling Village, the Jin Family Residence at No. 24, Daxiang, Huangling Village, the Jin Family Residence at No. 30, Daxiang, Huangling Village, and the Chen Family Residence at Yunmen Temple. These buildings are mostly traditional quadrangle courtyards constructed entirely of stone, with one (and occasionally two) blockhouses built at the corners of the courtyards. Most of them date back to the Republican Era.

They were designated as part of the fourth batch of municipal cultural heritage protection units in Lianyungang City in 2010.

Protected Area:

A five-meter zone surrounding each blockhouse residence.

Construction Control Zone:

A 30-meter zone extending outward from the outer perimeter of each blockhouse residence.

Chaoyang Subdistrict: Following the 2013 administrative division adjustment, the former Chaoyang Town was abolished and Chaoyang Subdistrict was established. The adjusted administrative region covers an area of 31.4 square kilometers, with a total population of 20,000, and includes two neighborhood committees—Xinxian and Chao dong—and seven village committees: Xizhuang, Liuxiang, Hanli, Zhangzhuang, Yinsong, Mashan, and Shaji.
