The Site of Tianhenggang is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

It is located in Yunlongjian Scenic Area, Jinzu Village, Zhongyun Subdistrict Office, Lianyungang District, Lianyungang City. Tianheng (unknown–202 BC), a native of Dixian County (now Gaqing, Shandong) during the late Qin Dynasty, was one of the leaders of the peasant uprisings at the end of the Qin era. He once declared himself the "King of Qi." After Liu Bang ascended the throne, Tianheng fled to an island with over 500 followers and was later forced to commit suicide with them. According to historical records such as the Tang Dynasty’s Yuanhe Junxian Tuzhi (Records of Administrative Divisions and Commanderies), Tongdian (Comprehensive Statutes), and the Song Dynasty’s Taiping Huanyu Ji (Universal Geography of the Taiping Era), Tianhenggang is situated sixty-one li northeast of Donghai County on Xiaogeli Mountain. The solitary peak rises prominently, surrounded on three sides by steep cliffs overlooking a deep ravine, with only the eastern edge accessible to people. Stone walls were built here, forming the camp where Tianheng stayed. The existing Tianhenggang site is divided into four camps—left, middle, right, and front—all facing the sea to the north. The middle camp is located atop the summit of Gegfeng Mountain and is connected to the other camps via four small paths. The east, west, and north sides of the middle camp are all cliffs, while the south side is fortified with a 3-meter-high stone wall. The right camp is positioned on “Eagle Beak Summit,” separated from the middle camp by a ravine; the left camp is set on “Wolf Fang Summit” in a circular formation, and the front camp is built on Tiaoshan Mountain. The stone walls of Tianhenggang are 2–5 meters high and 1–1.5 meters wide, with a total remaining length of over 200 meters. Additionally, there are stone walls sealing off gaps along steep cliffs, totaling over 200 meters in length. At the center of Tianhenggang lies the ruins of a structure. According to a surviving broken stele, it was the “Tianheng Shrine” built during the Ming Dynasty. The stele is 1.6 meters tall and 0.74 meters wide. The front side is partially legible with inscriptions such as “Shi Wang Tianheng Yu... Da...” (King of Qi Tianheng... Great...), while the reverse side shows “Kou Shou Jin... Ge...” (possibly referring to gold... ridge...). Near the stele, remnants of Ming Dynasty bricks and tiles have been unearthed.

It was designated as part of the fourth batch of cultural relic protection units of Lianyungang City in 2010.

Protected area:

East to 50 meters east of Tianheng Tomb, south to 250 meters south of Tianheng Tomb, west to 5 meters outside the stone wall, and north to 250 meters north of the stone wall.

Construction control zone:

East to 100 meters east of Tianheng Tomb, south to Qinglongjian, west to 50 meters outside the stone city wall, and north to Bailongjian.

Zhongyun Subdistrict: Zhongyun Subdistrict is under the jurisdiction of the national-level Lianyungang Economic and Technological Development Zone. It is located in the central part of the Yuntai Mountain Range, bordering the renowned Huaguo Mountain Scenic Area to the south and the Lianyungang Port—the eastern bridgehead of the New Eurasian Continental Bridge—to the north. It is named after Zhongyuntai Mountain within its territory. The subdistrict covers a total area of 42 square kilometers, governs 8 administrative villages and 7 neighborhood committees, and has a total population of 24,000.

Zhongyun Subdistrict enjoys a prime location, being close to both the port and the urban center. It lies in the heart of the Lianyungang Economic and Technological Development Zone and is considered a prime area for the development of the city’s eastern urban district.
