Located in Yangma Town, Sheyang County — known as the “Hometown of Chinese Medicinal Herbs” — the Sheyang Yangma Shili Chrysanthemum Fragrance Garden is the largest chrysanthemum production base in China and the largest medicinal herb cultivation base in East China.

The medicinal herb cultivation area covers nearly 100,000 mu, with nearly 300 varieties, forming more than 10 major medicinal products such as chrysanthemums and salvia miltiorrhiza, among which chrysanthemums and salvia miltiorrhiza rank the highest nationally. There are over 30 varieties of crops and livestock cultivated on a large scale. The Yangma Chrysanthemum Production Base and its series of chrysanthemum products have been recognized by the state as a “Green Food Base,” an “Organic Food Production Base,” and awarded the “Green Food” designation.

The garden features a variety of tourist attractions including a 10,000-mu chrysanthemum base, the Hundred Herbs Garden, herbal tea tasting, the Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Museum, folk performances, and a rural leisure park. With small bridges over flowing streams, pavilions and towers, and winding paths through serene scenery, it also displays nearly 1,000 specimens of medicinal herbs.

In October, visitors can admire the sea of fragrant chrysanthemums stretching across ten thousand mu, as if immersed in an ocean of flowers. Activities such as fishing in the Xinyang River, sampling medicinal cuisine, taking medicinal baths, experiencing local customs, and enjoying the pleasures of rural life offer a taste of both tradition and modern trends.

Every November during the chrysanthemum blooming season, Sheyang hosts the Chrysanthemum Festival. Established in 1997, the festival takes place in Yangma Township, Sheyang County — known as the hometown of chrysanthemums and medicinal herbs in China. During the event, a rich array of tourism and cultural activities take place alongside vibrant trade and business exchanges, attracting large crowds of visitors. Guests can enjoy the fragrance of medicinal herbs, sip herbal tea, taste medicinal dishes, take medicinal baths, and admire the chrysanthemums in a colorful and engaging atmosphere.

It borders Yancheng Airport and National Highway 204 to the west, lies adjacent to the Xinchang Railway, and is close to the national second-class open port — Sheyang Port — to the east.
