Longyou Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Longyou Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction and a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area.

The Longyou Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Rugao City is located within Rugao, Jiangsu Province. Built around two urban rivers—the inner and outer city moats—and supported by water conservancy facilities, it is classified as an urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area, with a planned area of 23.8 square kilometers.

The scenic area is developed around the city’s moat scenic belt, densely packed with both natural and cultural landscape resources along the river, featuring a long and rich historical culture. The double-ring ancient city moat, with its outer circle and inner square layout, connects over 40 cultural sites including Lingwei Temple, Dinghui Temple, Jixian Lane, and Wenchang Pavilion, as well as hydraulic engineering landscapes such as the North Water Gate, East Water Gate, roller dam, and 29 uniquely shaped bridges. The Shuihui Garden, built during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era, boasts profound cultural significance and high renown.
