The Old Residence of the Tang Family in Shizhuang is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangsu Province.

The Old Residence of the Tang Family in Shizhuang is located at No. 41, North Street, Shizhuang Town. Built in the late Ming Dynasty, it features eaves 2.8 meters high and a roof ridge 4.5 meters above the ground, with a total floor area of 280?. In front of the residence are bluestone steps and a pair of bluestone gate piers. The bluestones used in the residence are shaped like “book boxes,” which phonetically resemble “scholarly family,” symbolizing the family’s literary heritage; the gate piers are carved with a pine and deer garden, signifying longevity and peace, reflecting the strong cultural atmosphere and aspiration for power of the Tang ancestors. The wooden partition walls inside the house are well-preserved, with carved door pillars, remaining eave decorations, and exquisitely carved wooden lintels that convey meanings of prosperity, wealth, and fertility. The building boasts a complete set of wood carvings, brick carvings, and stone carvings, all in excellent condition.

In November 2016, the Old Tang Residence in Shizhuang was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Rugao City by the Rugao Municipal People's Government.

In March 2019, the Old Residence of the Tang Family in Shizhuang was included in the eighth batch of cultural relic protection units of Jiangsu Province.
