This building was originally a large open hall of a Tang family residence, constructed in the early Qing Dynasty. With seven bays and five rooms, it covers a floor area of approximately 180 square meters. In the early years after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was converted into a workshop for the sauce and vinegar factory. The sauces and vinegars produced here feature a dark purple color, clear liquid, rich sour aroma, and a smooth, mellow taste without astringency. Since vinegar aids digestion, has antibacterial properties, and helps relieve hangovers, locals at the time praised the aged vinegar from the factory with the saying, “Keep two ounces of vinegar at home, and you won’t need to visit the pharmacy.” The external structure of the sauce and vinegar factory remains largely unchanged, still preserving the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty, including the arched doorway that stands without a single supporting pillar.
