Rugao City Museum

The new complex of Rugao City Museum is located in the core area of the Cultural Square on the west side of Rugao’s Administrative Center. It was completed and opened to the public in October 2011, with a total construction area of 9,973 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,893 square meters. The total investment was 75 million yuan, with 13.9 million yuan for exhibitions and 1.2 million yuan for cultural relic acquisition and office expenses.

In terms of functional layout, the new complex of Rugao Museum includes exhibition areas, storage areas, office spaces, and auxiliary facilities. The exhibition area features three permanent exhibition halls: “Flowing Grace of the Stream – Historical and Cultural Exhibition,” “Heroes of the Stream – Celebrity Exhibition,” and “Ancient Town and Immortal Abode – Natural Exhibition.” Together with one temporary exhibition hall and the lobby, these account for more than half of the museum’s total area. The office area is designed to be as compact as possible while ensuring full functionality. Additional auxiliary areas include a tea lounge and a cultural and museum shop.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday; last admission at 4:00 PM. Closed all day on Mondays (except national public holidays) and on New Year’s Eve.
