Enyang Baiyun Temple

Enyang Baiyun Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Baiyun Temple is located in Feifeng Village, Enyang Town. Originally built during the Qing Dynasty, it was initially named Guanyin Hall and also known as Baiyi Nunnery. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was rebuilt by the fourth-generation abbot, Monk Yiming. The reconstruction took place during the transition from summer to autumn, under the scorching sun with cloudless skies, making it unbearable for the workers due to the intense heat. Abbot Yiming prayed to the heavens, and miraculously, white clouds appeared to shield the sun each day until the construction was completed. Only then did the auspicious clouds disperse, hence the temple was renamed Baiyun Temple.

Baiyun Temple faces south and is built with a brick-and-wood structure. It features a flush-gable roof with arched openings, a post-and-lintel frame, and is composed of a main hall, side rooms, a courtyard, and a theater stage, arranged in a traditional three-sided courtyard layout. The ridge of the theater stage is adorned with ornamental roof figures, and the eaves are painted with colorful scenes of theatrical characters and stories.
