Ancient Bridges in Enyang District
HuiLan Bridge, also known as Guxi Bridge, is located in Guxi Village, Enyang Town. The bridge stands 10 meters high and is 26.5 meters long. It was constructed in 1760 (the 25th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty) through donations encouraged by Li Ruyuan, the magistrate of Bazhou at the time, and was rebuilt in 1772 (the 37th year of the Qianlong reign). In November 1956, it was newly constructed as a stone arch bridge that is 53.6 meters long, ? meters wide, with three spans each 13 meters in length, still retaining the name Guxi Bridge.
Baiyu Bridge, situated between Qiuxi Village and Shima Village in present-day Enyang Town. It was first built in 1767 (the 32nd year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty) and rebuilt in 1857 (the 7th year of the Xianfeng reign), remaining sturdy and in use to this day.
Tani Bridge, located in Hezhi Village, Enyang Town. Originally a flat bridge with stone piers and stone slabs, during the construction of the Enyang–Yuxi Highway in 1956, stone piers were laid and a wooden bridge was erected to allow vehicle passage, later being reconstructed into a highway bridge.
Shuangshi Bridge, located in Shuangqiao Village, Enyang Town. During the Qing Dynasty, an overflow bridge with stone piers at the base and stone slabs on top was built. In 1983, it was newly constructed as a 62-meter-long highway bridge.
Qifeng Bridge, located at the entrance where the Zhihe River flows into the Enyang River in Enyang Town.
Laogong Bridge, located at the turning beach in Sicheng Village, Siyang Town. It is a single-arch bridge that is 80 meters long and 3.3 meters wide. Built in the mid-Qing Dynasty and reinforced during the early Republican period.
Xingong Bridge, located in Shujia Gully at the border between Siyang Town and Shangbamiao Town. It is a single-arch bridge that is 80 meters long and 3.3 meters wide. First built in the late Qing Dynasty, it was reinforced after the liberation.
Yong’an Bridge, also called Liang Bridge, is located in Yuxi Town, Siyang District. Built in 1768 (the 33rd year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty), it features stone piers with a wooden deck, is 54 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 11 meters high. The bridge is covered with a long corridor roofed with tiles, featuring 32 pillars, 16 crossbeams, two levels of water ridges with eight steps, and railings with seating on both sides of the corridor. The corridor pillars are inscribed with golden couplet plaques and plaques. The bridge remains sheltered from sun and rain, providing pedestrians with shade and protection.
Floating Bridge, a temporary wooden bridge located between the old and new towns of Enyang. Established in 1895, it connected the riverbank beneath Youfang Street in the old town to the riverbank beneath Shuixiangzi in the new town using wooden posts and three-meter square wooden frames linked together with spikes, topped with wooden planks for pedestrian use. During flood season, boats were used for free ferrying, while the floating bridge served pedestrians in dry seasons. It was assembled on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month each year and dismantled on the third day of the third lunar month the following year, with ferry service resumed.
