The Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art was established by the Hongkou District Culture Bureau of Shanghai. It is a non-profit cultural and artistic institution planned and built to serve the development of contemporary Chinese art with modern multi-functional objectives, and serves as an international platform for the exchange of contemporary art. With "originality, academic rigor, and internationalism" as its founding philosophy, and "inheriting historical context and innovating contemporary art" as its mission, it features five major functions: exhibition, research, education, collection, and exchange. It is China’s first specialized modern art museum dedicated to contemporary art. Covering a construction area of 4,800 square meters across seven floors, with an exhibition space of 2,000 square meters, the museum primarily hosts exhibitions and performances of contemporary Chinese art and facilitates international exchanges in contemporary art. Through these exhibitions, the Duolun Museum of Modern Art focuses on the development trends and latest trends in contemporary Chinese art, promoting the exchange between Chinese contemporary art and global culture and arts.

The Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art established China’s first academic forum for contemporary art, regularly inviting renowned domestic and international art theorists, scholars, critics, and curators to deliver academic reports on contemporary art, committed to the development of theoretical frameworks for Chinese contemporary art. The museum has also built China’s first database of contemporary artists, creating the most comprehensive documentation of activities in Chinese contemporary art and individual art archives of Chinese contemporary artists (including overseas Chinese), facilitating access to information for domestic and international cultural institutions, curators, critics, and scholars. The museum conducts experimental educational research in Chinese contemporary art, comprehensively showcasing the state of art education in contemporary China, and advancing the reform and development of art education. The Duolun Modern Art Bookstore specializes in domestic and international contemporary art publications and magazines, recommending the latest books and periodicals in the field, serving as a cutting-edge window for contemporary art information, and providing the best services to artists.

The Duolun Members Club is a paradise for enriching the spiritual life of visitors and providing a space for exchange.
