The History Exhibition Hall of Shanghai Yimin Food Factory No. 1 is a cultural tourism attraction and a patriotic education base.

The History Exhibition Hall of Shanghai Yimin Food Factory No. 1 is located on the original site of the factory. It covers a land area of 2,904 square meters and a building area of 2,320 square meters, featuring a factory history exhibition area, a restored Spanish-style villa, and a restored wooden cooling tower, among other landscapes. The exhibition hall not only documents in detail the developmental trajectory of China's modern food industry but also vividly reflects the glorious achievements of the older generation of revolutionaries in safeguarding the factory and supporting the socialist construction of New China. The interior of the exhibition hall is mainly divided into four major sections: “A New Dawn for the Old Factory,” “Wholehearted Dedication to Development,” “Keeping Pace with the Times to Create Brilliance,” and “Devotion Forging the Soul of the Factory.” Making full use of modern techniques such as sound, light, and electricity, it authentically, vividly, and realistically recreates the development history of Shanghai Yimin Food Factory No. 1—one of the birthplaces of China’s modern food industry and the birthplace of the “Guangming” brand. It is a rare gem among Shanghai’s industrial exhibition halls.

The villa was built in 1937 and completed in 1940. It served as the living quarters for foreign senior staff of the enterprise at that time. After the liberation of Shanghai, it became the office building of Shanghai Yimin Food Factory No. 1. In 1985, it was demolished due to the need for the enterprise to expand its production scale. This building is a reduced-scale replica of the original, reconstructed in a different location.

The water tower was built in 1940 and was one of the cooling facilities used for producing ice cream and other products at the time, also known as a cooling tower. With a wooden exterior and a cement base, the tower had a unique structure and was one of the iconic buildings of Yimin Food Factory No. 1. It was demolished in 1965 due to an upgrade in the enterprise’s cooling system technology. This water tower is a reduced-scale replica of the original, reconstructed in a different location.
