Huoshan Park

Huoshan Park is located at No. 118 Huoshan Road, Shanghai. The parents of the late Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin are buried in this park. During his visit to Shanghai, Rabin expressed his desire to purchase the former Jewish cemetery in Shanghai — now Huoshan Park. After Rabin was assassinated in 1995, the plan was never realized.

The park is planted with red-leaf plum, privet, hibiscus, and more. At the center of the park there is a grape arbor, with flower beds on both sides planted with roses and crabapple trees. The southern part of the park is a children’s play area, featuring seesaws, slides, and swings. The western side of the park has a pavilion and corridor that serve as a recreational spot for seniors. In 1994, a memorial stele explaining the Jewish refugee residential area was newly erected in the park. The trees throughout the park are well-spaced, with a total of 678 trees from 41 species.
