Attraction Introduction

1933 Old Millfun is a uniquely designed creative park transformed from an old slaughterhouse. It houses many distinctive shops, restaurants, and studios, and regularly hosts plays, fashion shows, exhibitions, and more, making it a hub for the arts. It was also a filming location for the popular movie "Tiny Times," perfect for taking memorable photos.

The location of the old millfun is excellent, adjacent to Sichuan Road shopping street. The entire building blends Eastern and Western features. Its spatial layout is unconventional, with four buildings in the southeast, southwest, northeast, and northwest forming a square factory area connected to a central 24-sided main building via staircases. The architectural structure, which is square on the outside and circular inside, together with intersecting corridor bridges, spiral staircases, and umbrella-shaped columns, creates a maze-like effect full of surprises.

The most worthwhile spot to visit in 1933 Old Millfun is the rooftop stage located on the fourth floor of the central circular area of the main building. The 8-meter-high stage features a 600-square-meter suspended area made entirely of tempered glass, creating a dazzling transparent effect, with the glass floor extending continuously from the fourth floor down to the first. With its ingenious design and breathtaking space, it has also hosted large-scale commercial events such as the Ferrari F1 party and the 50th-anniversary celebration of Rado.

Compared to Xintiandi, Tianzifang is much quieter, with higher foot traffic on weekends. It's recommended to visit on a sunny day off, stroll along the corridor bridges, cow paths, and spiral staircases, take photos, and get a glimpse of the charm from over seventy years ago. If you’re lucky, you might see couples taking wedding photos here or street models shooting scenes. On a nice day, head up to the rooftop terrace to overlook some of the old buildings in Hongkou District.

If you get tired from walking, you can enjoy desserts at a dessert shop or have lunch at the Russian-style Red Square Restaurant. If you have time, browse the creative shops here that sell cigars, handcrafted furniture, and accessories. Prices may be slightly high, but they’re worth admiring.

Special Tips

The micro-theater on the second floor of the old millfun often stages various plays, usually in the afternoon or evening, with ticket prices ranging between 100 and 200 RMB. Theater enthusiasts should not miss it. For specific performance information, please check the official website.
