Former Site Memorial Hall of the Founding Congress of the League of Left-Wing Writers of China

The Former Site Memorial Hall of the Founding Congress of the League of Left-Wing Writers of China is a Shanghai municipal cultural heritage site and a patriotic education base.

Located at No. 145 Duolun Road, Shanghai. In the 1930s, under the suppression by the Nationalists, revolutionary literary workers formed the League of Left-Wing Writers of China. The founding congress was held on March 2, 1930, at the China Art University, then located at No. 233 Dule'an Road (now No. 2, Lane 201, Duolun Road). In early 1989, after the original site of the "Left-Wing League" was confirmed, it was decided to build a memorial hall nearby at No. 145 due to the original site being in residential use. After six months of renovation, the inauguration ceremony of the Left-Wing League Memorial Hall was held on October 19, and it has been open to the public since. The museum is under the administration of the Hongkou District Culture Bureau.

The founding congress of the League of Left-Wing Writers of China was held in Shanghai on March 2, 1930. The League of Left-Wing Writers of China, abbreviated as "Left-Wing League", was established in a classroom of the China Art University at Dule'an Road in Shanghai. It was a revolutionary literary organization under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, with Zhu Jingwo as one of its founders. The congress passed the theoretical and action program outlines of the Left-Wing League and elected its leading body. Over 50 people attended, including Lu Xun, Rou Shi, Yin Fu, Feng Kang, Hong Lingfei, Xia Yan, Feng Naichao, Qian Yingcun, Zheng Boqi, Feng Xuefeng, Yang Hansheng, Tian Han, and Pan Hannian. Seven executive committee members were selected: Shen Duanyan, Feng Naichao, Qian Yingcun, Lu Xun, Tian Han, Zheng Boqi, and Hong Lingfei, with two alternate members: Zhou Quanping and Jiang Guangci.

The memorial hall consists of two three-story Western-style garden villas with plain brick walls and wooden structures, facing south with the iron gate to the east. The front yard covers an area of 300 square meters. The building was constructed in the 1920s, covering a land area of 684 square meters with a construction area of 550 square meters. The first floor of the memorial hall serves as a reception area, the second floor contains four large exhibition rooms and a side room used as a resource room, while the third floor houses offices.

The memorial hall primarily promotes and researches the Left-Wing League, and is involved in the collection and preservation of related materials. The museum houses over 2,000 cultural relics, documents, and books. The permanent exhibition is divided into five sections: Preparation and Founding; Organizational Development; Just Struggles; Literary Achievements; and Dissolution and Influence. It displays over 400 items, including artifacts, documents, and photographs, systematically showcasing the Left-Wing League’s historical journey and glorious legacy.
