The Russian Consulate General (Soviet Consulate General) is a protected historical site in Shanghai.

Located at No. 20 Huangpu Road, at the mouth of the Suzhou River, the building was designed by German architect Hans Emil Lieb and built by the Zhou Shuiji Construction Company, completing in 1916. In 1917, the Russian Consulate General in Shanghai relocated here. Following the October Revolution in Russia, diplomatic relations between the two countries were resumed in 1924, and the former Russian Consulate General became the site of the Soviet Consulate General in Shanghai. In 1991, after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the building once again became the site of the Russian Federation Consulate General in Shanghai. The consulate is recognized as an outstanding historical building in Shanghai, and directly opposite it stands the famous Astor House Hotel. Currently, the consulate general primarily handles visa and foreign affairs for Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui—three provinces and one municipality.

The overall architecture combines elements of Baroque and German Renaissance styles. The building has four floors and covers an area of 3,264 square meters. The new consulate building was completed in December 1916. On January 14 of the following year, it officially passed inspection by relevant authorities and a grand opening ceremony was held. Given the circumstances at the time, the Russian Consulate, with its unique exterior and luxurious interior décor, became one of the most classic among the many foreign consulates in Shanghai. It was also considered the most beautiful of all Russian embassies and consulates abroad. On September 25, 1989, it was listed as a protected historical site in Shanghai.
