Hulan Siwang Pavilion

Siwang Pavilion is located 500 meters east inside the main entrance of Xigang Park. It is a garden pavilion in the late Qing Dynasty style, covering an area of 80 square meters and standing 10 meters tall. The structure features an octagonal shape, a pyramidal roof, double eaves, upturned ridges, and upturned corners. It is supported by 16 round columns both inside and out. The beams and brackets are adorned with exquisite traditional Qing-style northern Chinese paintings. The upper eave bears a horizontal plaque inscribed with three large characters: “Siwang Pavilion” (Pavilion of Four Views), which was written by Lu Kezun, the then-county magistrate. On the eastern side of the pavilion, a couplet hangs from the bright pillars: “Peach petals drift gently down with willow catkins; mountain hues brighten as water colors renew.” On the western side is another couplet: “Here at Siwang Pavilion, through vicissitudes, the traces of talented women remain; along the Hulan River, through timeless flow, the fame of Xiao Hong endures.” This couplet was penned by the late renowned painter and calligrapher Yang Sha from our province. The pavilion boasts a tightly structured, exquisitely crafted design with a classic and rustic form, making it a typical representation of classical garden architecture in Heilongjiang Province.
