Chunqiu Ridge

Chunqiu Ridge Scenic Area is located in Shangzhi. The project was approved by the Heilongjiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission in 2007, constructed by the Shangzhi Municipal Tourism Bureau, with a total investment of 9.51 million yuan. Construction began in April 2008. The memorial park features 14 scenic spots: the statue of Zhao Yiman, the national flag platform, the thematic group sculpture, the Zhao Yiman Exhibition Room, the memorial inscriptions, the Anti-Japanese Allied Forces Well, the Martyrs’ Wall, the Wounded Shelter, the Shilazi Meeting Site, the Wild Raspberry Garden, the Wild Azalea Garden, the Chunqiu Ridge Battle Site, the Lotus Pond, and the Raspberry Picking Garden. Over half a century ago, national hero Zhao Shangzhi ignited the flames of resistance against Japan here, and heroine Zhao Yiman shed her blood on this land. For nearly a hundred years, the hardworking and brave people of Shangzhi have lived, worked, and created here.

Today, with good governance and social harmony, all industries are thriving. Shangzhi is home to continuous mountain ranges, dense forests, crisscrossing rivers, and beautiful scenery, boasting abundant tourism resources. In spring, flowers bloom like a carpet; in summer, green mountains glisten with dew; in autumn, frosted leaves blaze like fire; and in winter, the land is draped in silvery white. Among the internationally recognized three major tourism resources—forests, snow and ice, and the ocean—Shangzhi possesses two. Major tourist attractions include the Yabuli Ski Resort and Vacation Area. Additionally, the Chunqiu Ridge Scenic Area in Shangzhi is rich in cultural and historical sites. This is where anti-Japanese heroes Zhao Shangzhi and Zhao Yiman fought and sacrificed their lives, and it is also the literary setting of Zhou Libo’s novel *The Hurricane*. Scenic spots built based on historical and cultural heritage include the Northeast Anti-Japanese Memorial Forest, China’s First Village of Land Reform Culture, the Cultural Stele Forest, and the Site of the Wuji Palace.
