China Calligraphy Culture Museum

The China Calligraphy Culture Museum was built within the Martyrs' Cemetery of Shangzhi City. It is located at No. 176 Beihuan Street in the urban area of Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province, covering an area of 32,000 square meters. To commemorate the heroic deeds of revolutionary martyrs such as Zhao Shangzhi and Zhao Yiman, Shangzhi City, with the approval of Premier Zhou Enlai, constructed the Shangzhi Martyrs' Cemetery in 1965. It was first built in 1986 and officially opened to the public on May 1, 1988. In 2005, to mark the 60th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, it was redesigned and reopened.

The cemetery features the "Zhuhe Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Monument," the Martyrs' Monument, and over 100 memorial steles inscribed with calligraphy by Party and state leaders as well as descendants of the martyrs. The site also houses the "Shangzhi Anti-Japanese Martyrs Memorial Hall," with a construction area of 1,250 square meters. The hall primarily displays the deeds of revolutionary martyrs such as Zhao Shangzhi and Zhao Yiman. It also includes a diorama depicting Zhao Shangzhi leading guerrillas to attack Binxian County with a wooden cannon, offering visitors an immersive experience.

In 2000, leveraging the cemetery's environment and inscribed stelae, Shangzhi City undertook a new round of planning and design, adding thousands of stone tablets to create China’s largest calligraphy art stele forest. The project also introduced creative features such as the Echo Wall, the "No.1 Seal Under Heaven" — the Nine-Dragon Seal, and the "No.1 Brush Under Heaven." Ultimately, it evolved into the China Calligraphy Culture Museum, a comprehensive showcase of Chinese calligraphy art.

Transportation: From Harbin, you can take a bus or train to Shangzhi City, then transfer to Bus No. 1 and get off at the China Calligraphy Culture stop.

Self-driving Route: From Harbin, enter the Suiman Expressway, drive 125.7 km, then exit at Shangzhi/Yanshou. Continue straight onto Yingbin Avenue — Fazhan Avenue — Mugong Road — Shangwu Road — Shangzhi Avenue — Zhanqian Road — Central Avenue — Beihuan Road, and drive 70 meters to reach the destination.
