Harbin Numismatic Museum

The Harbin Numismatic Museum is located at the intersection of Shangzhi Street and Xiqi Street in Daoli District. It was jointly established by the Harbin Cultural Relics Management Office and the Harbin Commercial Bank, and officially opened to the public free of charge on November 14, 2007.

This is a specialized museum mainly dedicated to the collection, exhibition, and research of coins. Its permanent exhibitions are divided into three major sections: ancient Chinese coins, modern and contemporary circulating coins in Harbin, and coins from New China. Centered around the developmental history of Chinese currency, the exhibits highlight local characteristics by prominently showcasing coins unearthed and circulated in the Harbin area. The museum presents a systematic overview of the origin, development, and economic impact of coins in China.

The Harbin Numismatic Museum houses over 100,000 numismatic items and related cultural relics, including many fine pieces of high academic value. Examples include the Jin Dynasty "Cheng'an Baohuo" coins unearthed in Bin County and silver ingots issued by the Russo-Chinese Bank. Additionally, the museum displays sample bills of various series of Renminbi issued after the founding of the People’s Bank of China, commemorative coins, currencies from Hong Kong, Macau, Russia, Japan, and South Korea, as well as coin-related artifacts such as coin molds, money trees, and strings of coins.

Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM. The museum offers free antique appraisals at 10:00 AM on the 5th and 20th of each month.

Transportation Reference: Take bus routes 16, 94, 102, 103, 74, 64, or 83 and get off at China Life Insurance Company (Daoli Qidaojie).
