Harbin Korean Ethnic Art Museum

The Harbin Korean Ethnic Art Museum was established on January 2, 1950. It is located at No. 85 Ansheng Street, Harbin, covering a building area of 9,336 square meters. It is a provincial-level model civilized unit, a national model collective for ethnic unity and progress in 2009, and an ethnic unity education demonstration base in Heilongjiang Province.

The Harbin Korean Ethnic Art Museum is a purely public welfare institution. Its primary functions are to enrich and enliven the cultural life of the Korean ethnic community in Harbin, promote the Party’s ethnic policies, advance ethnic unity and progress, foster harmonious ethnic relations, and build a harmonious ethnic culture.

The museum includes departments such as the Art Guidance Department, Children’s Guidance Department, Fine Arts Department, Photography Department, International Exchange Department, the Editorial Department of "Songhua River," the Personnel and Education Section, and the Administrative Office.

In 2006, the Harbin municipal government increased investment in cultural undertakings. Through property exchange, the area of the Korean Ethnic Art Museum was expanded from the original 3,700 square meters to 9,336 square meters. Additionally, nearly 10 million yuan was invested in renovating and upgrading the new facility, providing favorable conditions for the museum to broaden its service scope and improve its functional facilities.

Taking the completion of the new building as an opportunity, and with the care of the Harbin Municipal Committee and Municipal Government, the Korean Ethnic Art Museum added facilities such as the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, the Korean Ethnic Folk Museum, the Harbin Korean Ethnic Centennial Development History Exhibition Hall, and a Korean Ethnic Library. It now also houses a Korean Ethnic Elderly Cultural Activity Center, a small theater, a multi-functional exhibition hall, vocal music classrooms, instrumental music classrooms, dance studios, fine arts classrooms, a photography studio, a video production room, 29 art guidance classrooms, and rehearsal rooms. These public cultural spaces make it the city’s only comprehensive cultural activity center for ethnic minorities that integrates education, training, organization, and exhibitions.
