Hongxing Volcanic Geological Park

Hongxing Volcanic Geological Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Hongxing Volcanic Geological Park, also known as the Hongxing Volcanic Rock Geological Park or simply Hongxing Geological Park, is located in the Dapingtai Operating Area of the Hongxing Forestry Bureau in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. It lies 160 kilometers from downtown Yichun and covers an area of 20,188 hectares. It is a newly discovered volcanic geological wonder following the Wudalianchi area. The park’s expansive volcanic lava fields, rock seas, and surrounding diverse ecosystems provide an ideal habitat for flora and fauna. Forty-seven species are under national first- or second-class protection, including red-crowned cranes and moose, while the plant variety includes 511 species. It is hailed as the "Heilongjiang Flora and Fauna Resources Reserve."

The park boasts three unique landscapes: volcanic landforms, azalea seas, and Kuerbin rime.

Volcanic Landforms. These were formed by repeated volcanic activity, including basalt eruptions, dating back to the Late Carboniferous, Early Permian, and Late Permian periods.

The volcanic rocks are of great antiquity, with lush moss covering their surfaces and ancient plants thriving in abundance. Rocks emerge from within forests, forests grow atop stones, flowers bloom among rocks, and rocks frame floral displays—creating a majestic and breathtaking sight that is a rare geological marvel in China.
