Hongxing Wetland Water Conservancy Scenic Area

The Hongxing Wetland Water Conservancy Scenic Area is recognized as both a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area and a National Nature Reserve.

The Hongxing Wetland Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in the Hongxing District in the northwest of Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, and is built around the Kulbin Reservoir and Kulbin River.

The scenic area is a wetland-type water conservancy area, with a planned area of 1,685 square kilometers, including 175 square kilometers of water surface. It features superior pristine ecological conditions and an exceptionally rich array of landscapes, making it a typical representation of the northern China forest-wetland ecosystem. The area has well-developed grass ponds, marshes, meadows, shrubs, and forests. In the southwest part of the scenic area lies the Basalt Rock Sea, formed through the weathering of ancient volcanic magma, offering a unique landscape. The area is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including 8 species of Class I nationally protected animals, 43 species of Class II protected animals, and 885 species of plants, earning it the reputation of being the “Treasure House of Flora and Fauna in Heilongjiang Province.” Seizing the opportunity to establish itself as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area, the region uses water as its central theme to integrate existing resources and create a new tourism brand and image.
