Yichun Water Park

Yichun Water Park is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

The water park was built in 1997, covering an area of 900,000 square meters, and features five major zones: a water recreation area, a leisure fishing area, a cultural and entertainment area, a children's play area, and a senior activity area. It has 56,000 square meters of green space, 18 flower stands, and over 30,000 trees of more than 30 different greening species. In 2001, it was named one of the “Top Ten Square Parks” in the province, bringing honor to Yichun, the Forest Capital.　

There is a monument here that serves as the iconic structure of the water park and also as a symbol of Yichun, the Forest Capital. It was built by the people of Yichun to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the development and construction of the Yichun forest region. The monument stands 19.98 meters tall, signifying its completion in 1998. Its top is formed by two woodpeckers—the city bird of Yichun—while the spherical top represents the hopes of Yichun, the Forest Capital, for tomorrow. The woodpeckers, with wings spread high, soar above a sun that spans the century, as if piercing through the clouds and leaping into the heavens. This symbolizes the continuous takeoff, annual progress, brilliant future, and flourishing development of the Yichun forest region. The body of the monument is shaped like the trunk of a strong, straight, and upward-reaching Korean pine tree. Here, it’s worth mentioning that the Korean pine is the city tree of Yichun. It not only represents the spirit of the city and the noble character of the forest region’s people—selfless, fearless, upright, and pure—but also indicates the era of the city. The main trunk in the center represents ten years, while the four prominent ridges on the sides each represent ten years, adding up to fifty years in total. The flower stand at the base of the monument is pentagonal, with petal-like sections forming a giant azalea pattern. This design represents the city flower of Yichun—the Rhododendron dauricum (also known as Dazixiang), symbolizing the fearless, vigorous, and upward spirit of the forest region’s people. Such an urban architectural sculpture vividly and realistically showcases the city tree, city bird, and city flower of Yichun.　

Another large facility that complements the monument is the Music Square, a large open-air venue for performances and amateur cultural activities, covering an area of 4,200 square meters, which can accommodate 3,000 spectators to enjoy art and entertain their spirits.　

Divided by a highway bridge, the area north of the bridge is the fishing zone, while the area south of the bridge is the water recreation area. Visitors can paddle on the water, row the oars, push aside the waves, break through the flowers and moonlight and the reflections on the water, and enjoy a rare sense of leisure and transcendence.　

Blending seamlessly with the water park is the Xiaoxing’anling Dinosaur Museum. The dinosaur skeletons displayed there are all ancient local rulers from hundreds of millions of years ago, representing the long history and dramatic changes of the Xiaoxing’anling region.　

If you visit the water park when the mountain shadows meet dusk and the moon hangs above the treetops, the garden’s evening scenery will be even more romantic, lively, and warm than during the day. Hundreds of colorful lights dress up the park like a gorgeously adorned bride, radiant and enchanting. The illuminated fountain dances with water and mist, exuding enthusiasm, adding a touch of magic to the park under the night sky and making it even more vibrant. The beams of searchlights shoot straight into the distant horizon, patrolling the mysterious night sky and watching over the city of forests surrounded by countless lights. Young couples share their love under the flowers and moonlight, middle-aged visitors unwind from the stresses of life among the winding bridges and pavilions, seniors reminisce about the past on the lush green lawns, and children enjoy a joyful childhood with carefree leaps and bounds. The air is filled with laughter and cheer, vividly expressing people’s yearning for a beautiful life.　

The water park is a young park, one that is still under development and construction. Walking westward along the park’s curved river channel, you’ll find the Xiaoxing’anling Stone Garden and China Forest Capital Wood Carving Garden. In the near future, these three attractions will be integrated into one, forming a unique tourist site featuring one park, three major landscapes, encircling the city and water, and rich in local charm.
