The Yichun Riverside New District Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction and a national water conservancy scenic area.

The Yichun Riverside New District Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province, and became a national-level water conservancy scenic area in 2013. The overall layout of the scenic area is divided into four functional zones from east to west based on tourism functions and facilities: the Water Activity Zone, the Sightseeing and Entertainment Zone, the Garden-within-a-Garden Zone, and the Bird Forest Zone. It is the largest leisure and recreation venue in the city.

The Water Park was built in 1997, covering an area of 900,000 square meters, and includes five major zones: the Water Recreation Zone, the Leisure Fishing Zone, the Cultural and Entertainment Zone, the Children’s Play Zone, and the Senior Citizens’ Activity Zone. It features 56,000 square meters of green space, 18 flower stands, and over 30,000 trees of more than 30 different greening species. In 2001, it was named one of the “Top Ten Square Parks” in the province, bringing honor to Yichun, the Forest Capital.

Located on the western side of downtown Yichun, Heilongjiang Province, the park consists of the South Garden and the North Garden, with a total area of 89.31 hectares. It is the largest leisure and recreation venue in the city.

Park Scenery:

The Yichun Water Park is filled with lush green grass and fragrant blooms. As you stroll through the park, the most eye-catching feature is undoubtedly the towering monument in the center of the South Garden. This monument was built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the development and construction of the Yichun forest region. At the top of the monument, two city birds (woodpeckers) hold up a rising sun as they prepare to take flight, symbolizing the continuous rise, development, and bright future of the Yichun forest region. The body of the monument is shaped like the trunk of the city tree (red pine), representing the spirit of the red pine and also indicating the passage of time — the main trunk symbolizes 10 years, while the four ridges represent 10 years each, totaling 50 years. Below the monument is a petal-shaped flower stand forming a giant city flower (Xing’an rhododendron). The monument is 19.98 meters tall, signifying the year it was built, 1998. Beneath the monument, a musical fountain sprays countless glistening pearls in rhythm with the melody, symbolizing the economic takeoff and promising future of Yichun. The pathways in the park are paved with colorful tiles arranged in various patterns of white, green, yellow, and red. The uniquely designed pavilions, beautifully arched bridges, vivid twelve-zodiac sculptures, and the fragrant flowers all add to the park's vibrant charm. A visit to Yichun Water Park isn’t complete without getting on the water. For just 10 yuan, you can rent a small boat and enjoy the water for an hour. Paddling along, gliding through the waves — it’s truly delightful, relaxing, and joyful. Another major attraction echoing the monument is the Music Square, a large open-air venue for performances and amateur cultural activities, covering 4,200 square meters and accommodating up to 3,000 spectators to enjoy art and entertainment.

The area north of the highway bridge is the fishing zone, while the south is the water recreation area. Visitors can paddle through the water, pushing aside waves and breaking the reflections of flowers and skies, enjoying a rare sense of tranquility and detachment. Integrated with the Water Park is the Xiaoxing’anling Dinosaur Museum, which displays dinosaur skeletons — ancient local rulers from hundreds of millions of years ago — representing the long history and dramatic changes of the Xiaoxing’an Mountains. If you visit the Water Park at dusk, when the moon hangs above the treetops, the garden takes on an even more romantic, warm, and lively evening ambiance. Hundreds of colorful lights adorn the park like a gorgeously dressed bride, vibrant and enchanting. The illuminated fountains spray water into misty waves, adding vitality and animation to the nighttime scene. Searchlights beam straight into the distant sky, surveying the mysterious night and safeguarding the city lights of the forested town.

Young couples whisper sweet nothings under the flowers and moonlight; middle-aged visitors unwind from their busy lives amidst winding bridges and pavilions; seniors reminisce about the past on the green lawns; and children revel in the joy of carefree childhood. The air is filled with laughter and joy, vividly expressing people’s longing for a beautiful life.

The Water Park is a young and still-developing park. Continuing westward along the park’s curved river, you’ll find the Xiaoxing’anling Stone Garden and the China Forest Capital Wood Carving Garden. In the near future, these three attractions will be connected to form a unique tourist destination featuring one park, three major landscapes, encircling the city and water, with distinctive charm.
