Yichun City Museum is a patriotic education base.

By the picturesque Yichun River lies the Yichun City Museum (Geological Museum), which was first built in 1998, renovated in 2006, and covers an area of 4,500 square meters. In 2012, the municipal government decided to carry out further reconstruction. The museum consists of eight exhibition halls: the Introductory Hall, the Geological Development History of Yichun Hall, the Mineral Resources Hall, the Stratigraphy and Paleontology Hall, the Earth and Life Evolution Hall, the National Geopark Hall, and the International Hall. The museum combines physical exhibits with vivid imagery, multimedia, and interactive displays, integrating science, art, and entertainment. It fully showcases the long history of geological development and evolution in the Yichun region since 500 million years ago, highlighting the area’s rich mineral resources, well-preserved stratigraphic sections and paleontological fossils, majestic geoparks, and the fascinating dinosaur world of Yichun dating back 65 million years.

Since its opening in 1998, the museum has received millions of visitors, including national, provincial, and municipal leaders such as the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference —, —, Vice Chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Xu Jialu, Peng Peiyun, Cao Zhi, and Vice Chairpersons of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Zhou Tienong, Wang Wenyuan, and Zhang Siqing. The museum serves as an important base for popularizing scientific and cultural knowledge among the public and providing patriotic education, as well as an artistic venue for promoting advanced culture and enriching the spiritual life of the people.

Over the years, Yichun City Museum has been awarded titles such as “National Advanced Collective in Cultural Work,” “Provincial Patriotic Education Base,” and “Provincial Revolutionary Tradition Education Base” by national and provincial authorities.
