Halanur Scenic Area

“Halanur” is a transliteration from the Mongolian language, meaning “black water pool.” It is located in the northeast of the vast Bashang Grassland, on the western bank of the Nenjiang River, at the heart of the Momoge National Nature Reserve, and is a national Class A wetland resource. The scenic area features the Halanur Reservoir and the Halanur Tourist Resort.

The Halanur Reservoir was approved for construction in August 1979 by the Water Resources Department of Jilin Province. Currently, the reservoir has a fish farming area of 60,000 mu and a natural fishing area of 120,000 mu. It includes four natural fishing units: Yangtang, Laoguawo, Shaoligen, and Longkeng. The area boasts vast waters, lush reeds, and aquatic plants such as gorgon fruit, water chestnuts, and various grasses. The waters are home to over 30 types of fish, including mandarin fish, yellow catfish, carp, black carp, catfish, Pengze crucian carp, bream, silver carp, bighead carp, and grass carp, yielding an annual production of 1.2 million jin of fresh fish.

The Halanur Tourist Resort can accommodate up to 80 guests for lodging, dining, entertainment, and small-scale meetings. Current recreational activities include water sports, nature sightseeing, fishing, and wild bathing. The area features beautiful scenery, vast misty waters, endless reed beds, fish swimming near the surface, and birds soaring high above. There are also boundless grasslands and the ever-flowing Nenjiang River, offering pleasant views and a pristine environment. The Halanur Class A Tourist Resort is an ideal destination for leisure, vacation, sightseeing, and summer retreats.
