The Liu Laogen Grand Stage is located at No. 4 Ganshiqiao, Zhengyang Street, Shenhe District, Shenyang. It is the oldest theater in Shenyang and the most famous venue to watch green Errenzhuan. The grand stage theater was originally built in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1908). Though the facilities are somewhat outdated, they do not dampen the enthusiasm of audiences coming to enjoy the performances. In addition to regular seating, there are also luxury private boxes, making it the best place to appreciate the green Errenzhuan of Northeast China.

Most visitors who come here to watch Errenzhuan are out-of-town tourists drawn by its reputation, corporate group gatherings, as well as local young people and white-collar elites with a certain spending power. Additionally, if you’re looking to entertain friends or clients with an Errenzhuan performance, this is a suitable choice, as the Liu Laogen Grand Stage is practically a brand name for Errenzhuan.

A full Liu Laogen Errenzhuan show lasts two and a half hours, starting at 7:00 PM and ending at 9:30 PM every evening. It keeps the audience entertained from start to finish, and almost every show is sold out. Tickets here are relatively expensive, ranging from tens to several hundred yuan. Seats on the second floor can go for 120 yuan, and the most expensive ones can even cost up to 400 yuan. If the theater is sold out, extra seats may be added, usually behind the last row, at 80 yuan per seat.

Ticket sales begin at 10:00 AM each day. Generally, tickets with good seats and lower prices sell out in the morning, and by the afternoon, it’s usually impossible to get any tickets under 50 yuan. Individuals cannot book tickets in advance, but for holidays such as New Year’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Labor Day, National Day, and Christmas, reservations can be made 1–2 days in advance. Group tickets of ten or more can typically be booked three days in advance. Private box reservations can be made even earlier. If tickets are not collected by the start of the evening performance after booking, the reservation will be considered void.

Travel Tips: If you plan to watch a show in the evening, consider exploring the nearby Zhongjie area during the day — both the Shenyang Imperial Palace and Mukden Palace are located there. For meals, you can try the famous Lao Bian Dumpling Restaurant. Alternatively, you can start with some shopping at Xinglong Dajiating Mall, then sample a variety of local snacks at the nearby Snack Street. After a satisfying meal, head to the grand stage to enjoy some Errenzhuan. Upon leaving the theater, if you still have energy to spare, you can visit the nearby Qibei Tea House for tea and conversation, sing at Letianchong Karaoke, or relax at the Dahe Bath Center. The Zhongjie area offers convenient transportation, with loop-line buses running until 11:00 PM.
