The former site of the Prince Shōtoku Memorial Hall in Japan is a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit in Dalian.

The former site of the Prince Shōtoku Memorial Hall in Japan is located within Zhongshan Park in Shahekou District. On June 28, 2013, it was included in the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Dalian.

The former site of the Prince Shōtoku Memorial Hall in Japan is located at No. 62-3 Lianhe Road, Shahekou District, Dalian (within Zhongshan Park), and is a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit. It was built in 1905 during the Japanese occupation to commemorate Prince Shōtoku (also known as Prince Umayado or the Second Prince of the Japanese Emperor), facing east and constructed with a brick-and-wood structure. The building is 30 meters wide and 17.7 meters deep, with a front porch, a grey-tiled roof, and a doorway at the top. The building covers a construction area of 800 square meters. After the liberation, it was repurposed as the Shahekou District Children’s Palace, and is now the Office for Veteran Cadres of Shahekou District. Approximately 30 meters northeast of this building was originally the Prince Shōtoku Pavilion, which has since been renamed the “Friendship Pavilion.” Nearby the square are commemorative stone pillars established at that time and a memorial stone stele located in front of the southern gate of the park. These hold significant value for researching the history of Japanese colonial rule in Dalian and the important architecture of that period. In 2003, it was announced as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Dalian under Document No. Da Zheng Fa [2003] No. 89.

Protected Area: The exterior wall foundations of the original site building, extending 45 meters east, 10 meters south, 7 meters west, and 16 meters north, are designated as the protected area.

Construction Control Zone: A zone extending 10 meters beyond the protected area is classified as a Category II construction control zone.
