Baiyu Mountain Scenic Area

Baiyu Mountain Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Baiyu Mountain is located in the center of Lushun urban area, on the northern shore of Lushun Port, and is the most famous attraction in Lushun. Climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the entire Lushun Port, as well as a glimpse of the natural sand spit "Tiger Tail" extending from the opposite mountain. It is the best scenic spot in the Lushun area. The mountaintop also features two attractions: Baiyu Mountain Pagoda and the Navy Weapons Museum.

Baiyu Mountain is not high, with its summit at just over 130 meters above sea level. There are not many attractions within the scenic area, and it can be explored in less than half a day. There are winding roads leading to the top from both the northeast and the south of the scenic area. The area is close to Lushun Railway Station and Bus Station, and you can take a taxi up the mountain after getting off. There is a cable car on the southern side of the scenic area that goes to the summit, costing 15 yuan for a one-way trip. On the eastern side of the scenic area (at the intersection of Huanghe Road and Changjiang Road, on the right side of the Baiyu Mountain Tunnel entrance), there is a ticket office, and next to it are cement steps that allow for a hike up the mountain, which takes about 20 minutes.

Baiyu Mountain Pagoda was formerly known as "Tablet of Loyalty." It was built by the Japanese army in the early 20th century to honor soldiers who demonstrated loyalty to the emperor during the Russo-Japanese War. Today, it stands as evidence of a history of aggression. Climbing the pagoda offers an even broader view of Lushun Port, but there is an additional fee for entry. The Navy Weapons Museum is included in the general scenic area ticket. It showcases some of China’s self-designed and manufactured naval weapons and equipment, including torpedo boats, tanks, coastal missiles, helicopters, radar systems, and naval guns—must-sees for military enthusiasts.

In the southwest corner of Baiyu Mountain Scenic Area lies the Lushun Bird Garden, which is also included in the general scenic area ticket. It can be accessed by descending the road from the Baiyu Mountain Pagoda side and passing through it halfway down the mountain. The Bird Garden is home to various birds such as peacocks, brown eared pheasants, blue eared pheasants, parrots, cranes, and mandarin ducks. There are also performances such as cockfighting and parrot mimicking, making it worth a visit. Ancient cannon ruins can also be seen halfway up the mountain.

There are several small shops at the mountaintop selling drinks, ice cream, grilled sausages, and other snacks, but prices are higher than outside the scenic area. It is recommended to bring your own snacks and water. For meals, you can dine in the urban area at the foot of the mountain.
