Soviet Victory Tower

The Soviet Victory Tower is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

Built before the Soviet troops withdrew from Lüshun to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, the tower was completed on September 3, 1955. It stands 45 meters tall, symbolizing the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War in 1945. The top of the tower features a red five-pointed star surrounded by gilded wheat ears. The lower part of the tower is inscribed with a commemorative plaque. The area around the tower is filled with pine and cypress trees and flower beds. In spring and summer, peach blossoms and cherry blossoms bloom in succession, while roses and peonies compete in fragrance, creating beautiful scenery that attracts a continuous stream of visitors from all directions. Transportation: Accessible via Lüshun Bus Routes 2, 3, and 5.

The Soviet Victory Tower is located in the Sun Valley scenic area of Lüshun. Built before the Soviet troops withdrew from Lüshun to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, construction began in March 1955 and the tower was completed on September 3 of the same year. The tower is 45 meters high and covers an area of 15,546 square meters. The base of the tower is pentagonal, with 15 layers of granite steps on each side. The main body of the tower is constructed from granite, and there are 178 cement steps inside that spiral up to the two-level platform at the top. The upper part of the tower features a 15-meter-high gilded copper spire topped with a red star encircled by wheat ears, symbolizing victory and friendship. The lower front and side of the tower feature a large copper plaque inscribed with: “From August to September 1945, the heroic Soviet armed forces crushed the elite troops of the Japanese imperialism — the Kwantung Army — and, with the cooperation of the Chinese armed forces, liberated Northeast China from Japanese invaders.” The southern side of the tower is inscribed with: “Long live the great friendship between the peoples of the Soviet Union and China!” This tower is listed as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit.

Protected area: Within 30 meters east, 20 meters south, 20 meters west, and 30 meters north of the tower base.

Construction control zone: The first-class construction control zone extends 50 meters beyond the protected area, and the second-class construction control zone extends 50 meters beyond the first-class zone.
