Lushun Laotie Mountain Lighthouse is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Introduction to Laotie Mountain Lighthouse: The lighthouse is situated on a slope at an elevation of 87 meters in the southwest of Laotie Mountain. Its main components were manufactured in France in 1892, and the tower structure was built by the British in 1893, boasting a history of over a hundred years.

The Laotie Mountain Lighthouse is located at the tip of the southwestern foothills of Laotie Mountain in Lushunkou District, Dalian. It was built under the rule of the Qing government in 1893, supervised by the British, with its core machinery manufactured in France.

The Laotie Mountain Lighthouse stands 14.2 meters tall and has a range of 25 nautical miles. It is renowned across Asia and is China's first lighthouse to use a - floating trough rotating mirror mechanism.

After the liberation, the Laotie Mountain Lighthouse underwent renovations.

The Laotie Mountain Lighthouse is currently under the administration of the Tianjin Maritime Buoyage Administration of the Ministry of Transport.

Laotie Mountain is one of the “New Eight Scenic Spots” of Dalian established in 2000. The world-famous “Twin Seas View from the Tower” originates here. With its stunning landscapes and rich scenic diversity, it represents a perfect blend of natural and cultural attractions. The Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea converge here, forming one of China’s most treacherous waterways. The Laotie Mountain Lighthouse has stood for a century, witnessing the turmoil of two wars. On August 8, 2000, a sea-crossing hero started his swim from here, completing the crossing in 50 hours and 22 minutes to become the first person to traverse the Bohai Strait. Since then, Laotie Mountain has gained widespread fame and gradually developed into a new hotspot for eco-tourism in Dalian.

Scenic Spot Distribution:

Laotie Mountain is located at the southernmost tip of the Liaodong Peninsula, facing the Shandong Peninsula across the sea. It boasts unique natural landscapes and abundant cultural resources. It is not only the only place in the world where a single species of venomous snake gathers, but also a key stopover for migratory birds traveling north and south. Moreover, Laotie Mountain offers numerous attractions, including the lighthouse, bird-watching spots, the “clearly divided waters,” the Guojia Village Ruins, and the Han Dynasty Yangmu City Ruins—all of which amaze visitors. With focused government planning, the vibrant Laotie Mountain Scenic Area will play an even greater role in Lushun’s economic development.

In May 2013, the Lushun Laotie Mountain Lighthouse was listed as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Protected Area: Within 20 meters outside the outer wall base of the lighthouse tower.

Construction Control Zone: A secondary construction control zone within 100 meters outside the protected area.
