The Southern Ammunition Depot of the Qing Dynasty is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Southern Ammunition Depot of the Qing Dynasty, located on the Muzhu Reef coast in Lushun, is a semi-subterranean ammunition storage facility. Originally built in 1880 during the construction of the Lushun naval port and artillery batteries by Li Hongzhang, the Viceroy of the Beiyang region under the Qing Dynasty, it remains one of China’s best-preserved ammunition depots to this day. Covering a floor area of 1,200 square meters, it faces south and is 100 meters long and about 6 meters high, storing 1,200 tons of 14 different types of ammunition. The main front storage holds artillery shells, while symmetrical east and west auxiliary magazines on both sides store fuses, primers, and other components.

The main front storage building is 55 meters long from east to west and 23 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of 1,200 square meters. On either side of the main depot are the east and west auxiliary magazines, which have different layouts but are both connected to the main depot via passageways. In May 2013, the Southern Ammunition Depot of the Qing Dynasty was listed as part of the seventh group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Protected Area: Within 40 meters outside the outer wall base of the main structure.

Construction Control Zone: A secondary control zone within 100 meters outside the protected area.
