Dalian Longwangtang Cherry Blossom Park

As the name suggests, Longwangtang is inseparable from water. The pristine cherry blossoms become even more vibrant under the nourishment of the pond’s waters. Longwangtang Reservoir is located north of Guanfang Village, Longwangtang Town, Lushun, and was built by the Japanese before liberation. The dam stands 33.9 meters high and stretches 326.6 meters in length. On one side is a shimmering 33.9-square-kilometer expanse of water; on the other is a massive 5,000-square-meter garden built into the mountain valley.

Longwangtang Cherry Blossom Park is located in Longwangtang Town, Lushunkou District, Dalian, right beside the Lushun Middle Road. The entrance fee is 2 RMB, and parking costs 15 RMB. The best time to view the cherry blossoms is at the end of April to early May each year. The park is generally open from around May 15th to May 10th (note: likely a typo and should be around early to mid-May), but the blooming period is quite short, lasting only about ten days. Additionally, spring arrives late in Dalian, and flowering times vary greatly depending on temperatures, so the exact bloom period—and thus the park opening dates—can differ significantly each year. It's best to check in advance whether the park is open before you go. The park is not large, but it gets extremely crowded, with people shoulder-to-shoulder. There is a modest-sized cherry blossom grove, as well as a large dried-up dam where you can climb up for a panoramic view of the park. The area is narrow and crowded, so please be careful. When it’s not busy, you can tour the entire park in about 20 minutes, but during peak times, it may take 3–4 hours. The crowds are huge, and parking is difficult—you often have to park over a kilometer away and walk to the park.

Public Transport: Take the Lushun South Road bus from the North Square of Dalian Railway Station to the Longwangtang Shuishang Renjian stop (3 RMB). After getting off, continue about 200 meters along the Lushun South Road direction to a fork in the road (in front of the Longwangtang Police Station), then turn right and walk another 400 meters or so to reach the Cherry Blossom Park.

Driving Route: Starting from Dalian, take the Lushun South Road and upon reaching Longwangtang Subdistrict, turn right at the intersection in front of the Longwangtang Police Station.
