The Dalian Lushun Submarine Museum is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Dalian Lushun Submarine Museum in Liaoning Province combines tourism with military culture. It is a modern three-story building and one of the larger submarine museums in China. The museum is divided into several zones, with the third floor featuring an all-steel structure exhibition hall. The hall presents two major series — the development history of China’s submarine culture and that of the world’s submarine culture — mainly introducing the functions of submarines at different development stages and their roles throughout history.

The centerpiece of the outdoor submarine display area — the Type 33 submarine — has had two new entrances installed on its eastern side, connecting to ground level. This replaces the previous method of entering from the top of the submarine, making it more convenient for visitors to go inside and experience the interior firsthand.

A professional museum themed around submarine culture. It consists of a real submarine exhibition hall, a World Submarine Culture Exhibition Hall, a Submarine Life Experience Hall, and a 3D Dynamic Submarine Simulation Hall. Visitors can feel as if they are piloting a real submarine through the underwater world, with self-operated controls simulating various submarine functions. There are also carefully designed simulation scenarios such as the process of setting off on a cruise and collisions with other vessels — these scenes are updated regularly.

The Dalian Lushun Submarine Museum was planned in 2002, construction began on October 23, 2012, and it was completed on June 7, 2015. Covering a total area of 12,000 square meters, it houses a domestically produced Type 033 submarine, a submarine culture exhibition hall, and a submarine simulation demonstration hall. As the first submarine cruise experience museum in China, it utilizes a full set of high-tech electronic systems. Visitors will experience what it’s like to be aboard a real submarine: a domestically developed Type 033 submarine carries guests from Lushun Military Port — the birthplace of China’s submarine force — setting sail into the vast ocean, facing various challenges along the way. The towering waves are accompanied by both sunrise and sunset, and underwater adventures include encounters with reefs and giant whales. The scenic area also features the Electric Rock Fort, one of the five most famous coastal forts in China’s modern history.

Take the Lüda Express Bus and get off at Lushun Passenger Transport Station, then walk about 1.5 kilometers to reach the museum.

Alternatively, take bus routes 28, 13, or 33 within Lushunkou District and get off at Huangjin Street Guesthouse Stop.
