Guojia Village Site

The Guojia Village Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The Guojia Village Site is located in Guojia Village, Tieshan Subdistrict, Lushunkou District, Dalian.

The Guojia Village cultural site is just over 100 meters from the village committee. This cultural heritage site is the pride of the village. Dalian is a young city, but the land beneath it is ancient and profound. From the Xiaozhushan Site in Changhai County to the Han Dynasty Tombs in Yingchengzi, these precious archaeological discoveries prove that the ancestors of this land in Dalian once created many splendid and enduring cultures, as well as prosperous cities.

In 1976, the Liaoning Provincial Museum and the Lushun Museum jointly surveyed and excavated the Guojia Village cultural site in Tieshan Town, Lushunkou. It is situated to the north of Guojia Village, with Laotieshan to the southeast and the sea about 1,000 meters to the northwest. The site stretches 152 meters in length and 77 meters in width from east to west, covering an area of 110,000 square meters. The pottery is mainly red and reddish-brown, including straight-mouthed cylindrical flat-bottomed jars, pots, basin-shaped tripods, three-legged tripods, bowls, and other vessels. In addition to incised patterns, some pottery pieces also feature painted geometric designs. These painted pottery items bear similarities to those unearthed from the lower layer of the Zijing Mountain Site in Yantai, Shandong, indicating the influence of the Dawenkou Culture of Shandong (discovered in 1959 in Dawenkou, Ningyang, Shandong, hence the name) on this region.

The quantity and diversity of relics found beneath the Guojia Village cultural site are extremely rare. For this reason, as early as 1979, it was designated as a municipal-level key cultural relic protection unit, and later as a provincial-level one, with any destruction by individuals or organizations strictly prohibited.

Yet, less than four years later, the slopes of the Guojia Village cultural site are now littered with pottery fragments over 5,000 years old, interspersed with fragments of ancestral bones. The small protected heritage area has been riddled with holes from excavation. This is the very famous Guojia Village cultural site in Lushunkou District, renowned across the northeast and even nationally within archaeological circles—this is the scene of the Guojia Village cultural site after suffering severe human-caused damage.

Protected Area: Within 100 meters to the east and north, and 150 meters to the south and west, taking the protection marker stele as the center point.

Construction Control Zone: A Class I construction control zone within 20 meters outside the protected area.
