Former Site of the Nikka Bakisai Hotel

The Lushun Nikka Bakisai Hotel, whose former site is located on the north side of the courtyard at the intersection of Central Avenue and Stalin Road North First Lane in Sun Valley, Lushunkou District, Dalian. The building faces east and has an almost square floor plan, measuring 31 meters from east to west and 30 meters from north to south, with a height of about 10 meters and a land area of approximately 930 square meters, and a construction area of 4,064 square meters. It is a brick-and-wood structure, featuring a European-style building with one floor in the middle and three floors on both sides. Originally built in 1901, it initially served as the Nikka Bakisai Hotel under Russian rule and was one of the earliest large private hotels established during the Russian occupation of Lushun. On May 7, 1909, it became the “Kantō Governor-General’s Middle School” for Japanese, which was the first Japanese boys' middle school founded in the Kwantung Leased Territory. The school had a five-year curriculum, started with four classes and 181 students, most of whom boarded at the hotel. Later, the Kantō Governor-General’s Middle School moved to the former site of the German Chamber of Commerce, and the building was repurposed as a dormitory for Lushun Middle School.

In 1945, after the Soviet Army took over, it became the internal medicine building of the Soviet Far East Army Hospital. In 1955, it was taken over by the Chinese People's Liberation Army 210th Hospital. In 1964, the 210th Hospital and the 215th Hospital in Dalian swapped locations. It is now the radiology and convalescence department building of the PLA 215th Hospital and is listed as one of Dalian’s second batch of key protected buildings.
