Former Site of the President's Office, Lüshun Institute of Technology

The former site of the President's Office, Lüshun Institute of Technology, is a cultural relic protection unit of Liaoning Province.

The former site of the Lüshun Institute of Technology during the Japanese occupation is located at No. 89, Maolin Street, Sun Valley, Lüshunkou District. Built in 1900, it covers a construction area of 11,680 square meters. Its straight lines and solid structure, as well as its simplicity and elegance, reflect the characteristics of Russian classicism. Originally built as barracks for the Russian naval forces, in May 1909, the Japanese converted it into the Lüshun College of Technology. It offered departments in electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mining, and metallurgy, with a four-year curriculum. Its graduates were considered to have the same academic qualifications as those from Japanese higher schools and university preparatory courses. On March 31, 1922, the Japanese elevated the Lüshun College of Technology to the Lüshun Institute of Technology. From August 1945 to May 1955, the site served as barracks for the Soviet Red Army. It now houses the Navy 406 Hospital.
