Introduction

Nantianmen is located in Nanfen Town, Lixinqu District, Benxi City, towering into the clouds. The peaks and cliffs are steep, as if carved by knives and axes. At the summit, there is a large gap in the rocks. To the left of the gap stands a huge boulder, and to the right is a mountain ridge. The gap lies horizontally across flat rocks, and from a distance, it resembles a gate. Through this “gate,” one can gaze upon a vast expanse of the southern sky, hence the name Nantianmen. It serves as a formidable mountain pass on the route from Benxi to Dandong and is a mandatory section along the Shenyang–Dandong Highway. The road winds upward, passing through the perilous pass and emerging from the “heavenly gate,” which often leaves travelers feeling dizzy and awestruck. The movie *Heroes and Daughters* used this location as one of its filming spots. Anyone traveling past here by car will stop to take in the view.
