Dajiazi Mountain Natural Scenic Area

Dajiazi Mountain is located in Aijia Village, Xi’ertai Township. Also known as Guangdingzi Mountain or Miaoling (due to the three fairy temples that once stood at the mountain pass), it is a border mountain between Liaoning and Jilin provinces. The three peaks stand side by side, forming a majestic sight. The main peak, Guangdingzi Mountain, has an elevation of 532 meters and a relative height of 300 meters, making it the highest peak in Changtu County. It earned its name from its grand, steep landscape and the exposed rocks at the summit.

The “Standing Human Stone” at the summit resembles a person standing when viewed from afar, adding a unique charm. On the northern side of the mountain, there is a perennial spring that flows year-round into the Mangniu South River. At the summit stands a triangular wooden frame, which was erected by Tsarist Russia in 1904 during their occupation of Northeast China as a military marker. Hence, people call it Dajiazi Mountain (“Big Frame Mountain”). Later, during Japan’s occupation, a flag was hoisted on the frame, leading to another name, Qijiazi Mountain (“Flag Frame Mountain”), bearing witness to the atrocities of imperialism. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, afforestation efforts have transformed the barren mountain into a lush, forested area. Strange rocks can be found throughout the foothills, making it a popular destination for rock collectors.
