Tomb No. 3 at Sandaohao

The murals in Tomb No. 3 at Sandaohao in Liaoyang are located behind Sandaohao Village in the northern suburbs of Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province. Discovered in 1974, the tomb dates back to the Cao Wei to Western Jin period. The murals inside were first painted on a base layer, with outlines drawn in ink, then filled in with colors such as vermilion, green, white, yellow, and ochre. The northwest walls of the right side chamber in the front room depict scenes of the tomb owner dining, with the male figure on the west wall sitting on a square couch inside a curtain.

The female figure on the north wall also sits on a square couch, facing the male figure, with a long table, dining utensils, and a servant boy present. The east wall of the left side chamber in the front room depicts a horse-leading scene, while the north wall shows a domestic scene. The north wall of the rear chamber features a two-story building outlined in ink. The ends of the tomb door walls and the horizontal beams are decorated with cloud-pattern motifs. The upper part of the mural on the right wall of the burial bed has peeled off.

Protected area: Within 10 meters of the tomb center.

Construction control zone: A Class I construction control zone extends 20 meters beyond the protected area.
