Tomb No. 3 of the North Garden

Tomb No. 3 of the North Garden is located in the northern suburbs of Liaoyang City, Liaoning Province, less than a hundred meters away from Tomb No. 1 and Tomb No. 2 of the North Garden. The tomb chamber is supported by large bluish-gray shale slabs, with lime used to seal the gaps between them. The tomb entrance faces southeast, and the floor plan of the chamber is shaped like the Chinese character “土” (earth), measuring approximately 6.05 meters from east to west and about 4.3 meters from north to south. The front and rear corridors each have one side chamber at both ends, and the central part of the tomb entrance is sealed by three stone slabs. The tomb is well-preserved, yielding a total of 151 cultural relics distributed across the front and rear corridors as well as the coffin chambers. These artifacts are made of iron, copper, pottery, stone, and jade. Among the main items unearthed are iron knives, copper rings, bronze mirrors, silver bracelets, and wuzhu coins. Some ribs, skull fragments, and hip bones were also found in the left, right, and central coffin chambers. The murals inside Tomb No. 3 of the North Garden are mainly located in the front corridor, rear corridor, side chambers, and rear chamber, retaining their vibrant colors. Among them, the “Lecture Hall” scene is spectacular, with figures depicted vividly and expressively, making it a masterpiece of Han dynasty mural art. In addition, other murals such as the “Musicians’ Scene,” “Kitchen Scene,” “Gate Guard Scene,” and “Two Horses Cooling Off” are also exquisitely crafted.

Protected area: A radius of 10 meters centered on the tomb mound.

Construction control zone: A primary construction control zone within 20 meters outside the protected area.
