Peng Family Mansion

The Peng Family Mansion is a cultural relics protection unit of Liaoning Province.

Located on East Fourth Street in the ancient city of Liaoyang, there is an ancient architectural complex consisting of a three-courtyard, one-hall siheyuan, known as the Peng Family Mansion. It is one of the best-preserved and largest ancient siheyuan buildings in Northeast China. In December 1988, it was announced as a provincial-level cultural relics protection unit by the People's Government of Liaoning Province. It now houses the Liaoyang Museum.

The Peng Family Mansion was built in 1921 and served as the residence of Peng Xian, who was the head of the Three Eastern Provinces Official Silver Bank at the time. Covering an area of over 20,000 square meters with a construction area of 1,500 square meters, it consists of more than fifty rooms of various sizes, divided into eastern and western courtyards. The eastern courtyard includes residential buildings, while the western courtyard features a flower-viewing hall, garden, and orchard. The architecture is exquisitely designed, with a rational layout and balanced density. The main structures are all aligned along a central north-south axis. The building style follows traditional Chinese flush-gable architecture, with winding eaves corridors, vermilion-painted doors and windows, carved beams, and painted rafters. Decorative walls, moon gates, double-layered gates, and corner gates are all symmetrically arranged and interconnected. The entire complex exudes a sense of solemn dignity, serene antiquity, and refined tranquility, fully reflecting the traditional Chinese national architectural style.

As you step into the Peng Family Mansion, you are greeted by an imposing atmosphere. There are three east-facing gatehouses, flanked by a pair of stone lions that look fiercely vigilant. Inside the gatehouse lies a spacious courtyard, which is said to have been the area where horse-drawn carriages were parked in the past. To the left of the courtyard stands a brick-carved "Five Blessings" screen wall over ten meters high.
