In the northern coastal area of Hualien, you can enjoy the sea, and nearby Haibin Street is home to many guesthouses offering ocean views. Along this stretch of Haibin Street, there’s a variety of sea-view rooms to choose from, such as Love the Immortal Ocean Guesthouse, Seafront Guesthouse, Secret Sea Sea View Guesthouse, another Seafront Guesthouse, Lavillo Ocean Guesthouse, and Hualien No. 36 Lighthouse Sea View Guesthouse. The colorful designs are reminiscent of the Mediterranean, making you feel as if you’ve accidentally landed on a tropical island getaway.

1. Love the Immortal Ocean Guesthouse
Love the Immortal Ocean Guesthouse features colors with a distinct Southern European flair, with saturated, vibrant hues painted on the walls, giving off a rustic vibe. In fact, the guesthouse has been featured in numerous media reports and is also one of the low-carbon accommodations. The owner is highly skilled in cooking and offers a variety of homemade dishes. Breakfast options include a “boy’s breakfast,” a “girl’s breakfast,” and eggs Benedict, among others. Various corners of the space are adorned with different art pieces and paintings. The rooftop has a spacious deck with an incredibly wide view.

2. Secret Sea Sea View Guesthouse
Combining a café, casual dining, and guesthouse operations, it’s a standalone building. The first floor is the dining area, while the second floor and above house the sea-view suites. The transparent glass on the first floor allows ample sunlight, where you can see people jogging or walking their dogs along the Pacific coast — very relaxing. The second-floor scenic suites offer ocean views. The Sunrise Suite is very close to the sea; just open the window and the Pacific Ocean is right in front of you. It’s also a multifunctional hybrid guesthouse café that combines dining, music performances, and accommodation.

3. Seafront Guesthouse
Seafront Guesthouse is less than 20 meters from the ocean. The innkeeper mentioned that Seafront is closer to the street view, but its biggest highlight is the rooftop, which offers a panoramic view of the entire Pacific Ocean. The guesthouse provides oversized double rooms of over 30 ping (approx. 99 m²), which can accommodate 2–6 people — a room type rarely seen at other guesthouses. Aside from the sunrise sea-view suite, there’s also a starry sea-view suite, designed with blue-white tones and other vibrant, saturated colors, making you truly feel like you’re in the Mediterranean.

4. Lavillo Ocean Guesthouse
A beautiful mountain-and-water setting paired with a Southern European-style design — there’s even an Italian chess piece at the entrance, making you feel like you’ve arrived in Italy. European-style picture frames and furnishings are paired with modern bathroom facilities, and the rustic flooring blends classical and contemporary elements, creating a vacation-like comfort reminiscent of Italy.

The owner, Steven, mentioned that he not only enjoys traveling abroad but often does so, and among the many countries he’s visited, he loves the Italian lifestyle the most. That’s why he designed the guesthouse in an Italian style. Some room types come with balconies perfect for enjoying afternoon tea while overlooking the sea, while others offer elevated resting areas to soak up the sunshine. Whether it’s the ocean-blue green, calm earthy tones, or pink and peach color schemes, all room types exude an elegant style.

5. Hualien No. 36 Lighthouse Sea View Guesthouse
Located on Haibin Street, the Hualien No. 36 Lighthouse Sea View Guesthouse offers two types of views: street view and sea view. Room types are divided into , classic, ocean, and leisure categories; occupancy types are divided into double rooms and quadruple rooms. The rooms are bright and clean, and some room types even have observation decks for taking in even more distant and beautiful scenery. The biggest highlight is that you can enjoy the ocean view from inside the room, and if you wake up early, you can even watch the sunrise from bed.

The owner, Ms. Sun, recommends the Mediterranean Sea View Room the most — white walls paired with an ocean-blue wall and saturated yellow accents, with a fish ornament placed on the bed. The room is located on the highest fourth floor, offering the best view, and now also has an independently extendable balcony, bringing you even closer to the Pacific Ocean.
