Spotting planes in rice paddies – The “Pingtung Colorful Rice Life Festival” transportation guide

The “Pingtung Colorful Rice Life Festival” is currently being held in Longshui Community, Pingtung County. This year’s colorful rice artwork is a collaboration with EVA Air, featuring a 3D painted airplane motif. There is also an observation deck for visitors to take in the full view, along with nighttime stargazing, straw sculptures, and other activities and art installations. The rich content has attracted large crowds since the opening day. If you plan to visit during the holiday period, consider following the transportation guide released by the organizers to easily reach the venue via public transport and immerse yourself in the pastoral scenery of southern Taiwan.

1. Driving Yourself
For those driving, exit from National Freeway No. 3 at Nanzhou Interchange, head toward Xindi and then connect to Provincial Highway No. 1 toward Kenting. From Fenggang, take Provincial Highway No. 26 and continue toward Kenting. Near Hengchun city center, stay on Provincial Highway No. 26, and follow the event signs to reach the venue.

2. Taking the High-Speed Rail
After arriving at “Zuoying Station” of the high-speed rail, take the Kenting Express (one-way fare NT$345, every 15 minutes) to Hengchun Transfer Station, then transfer to a shuttle bus that goes directly to the venue.

3. Taking the Train
You can take a train to Kaohsiung, Pingtung, or Chaozhou Railway Station, then take the South-Link Line to Fangliao. From there, transfer to the Kenting Express (every 15 minutes, one-way fare NT$165) to Hengchun Transfer Station, and then take a shuttle bus to the venue.

Route: TRA Kaohsiung, Pingtung, or Chaozhou Station → (South-Link Line) → Fangliao → (Kenting Express) → Hengchun Transfer Station → (Shuttle Bus) → Venue

The organizers also noted that the Kenting Express departs from Zuoying Station of the high-speed rail and takes about two hours to reach Hengchun Station. From Hengchun Transfer Station, you can take the Colorful Rice Shuttle Bus for NT$20 per person, which runs approximately every 30 minutes.
