A Collection of Tainan’s Specialty Drinks Tour: 5 Must-Try Beverages on Guohua Street & Zhengxing Street

This time, I’m super excited about this post—it’s all about the ‘hottest drinks’ on Guohua Street and Zhengxing Street, XD haha. I felt just like one of those trendy, much-talked-about topics, so I made sure to use these three-day holidays to collect these popular drinks. I bet many of you have probably tried some of them already. To be honest, I’m not even sure when it all started, but there are suddenly so many fun drinks popping up around Guohua Street and Zhengxing Street in Tainan... Maybe it all began with that “six-pack abs young hunk” drink ^___________^ /

Every time I visit Tainan, I always make it a point to set aside a morning or an afternoon to explore this area. Perhaps it’s because it was the first place that made me fall in love with Tainan. Or maybe it’s because this place blends the city’s past history with its present innovation, all flowing together. You can start exploring Tainan’s traditional snacks from Yongle Market and just keep walking all the way to “Asakusa New World” and Zhengxing Street. If you ask me how big this area is, how long you can stroll, or how long you can stay, I’d say it’s an ever-expanding place. Its intangible charm will only keep drawing you back.

After having brunch at “Lai Le” and getting full, we walked over to Yongle Market, then headed to Asakusa New World. Before setting out, I browsed through lots of recent photos on Instagram to see if there was anything new that hadn’t gone viral yet. XD That’s when I found this place—“Senlin Yogurt”—whose vending machine drinks have been all the rage in Tainan lately. Even the famous “young hunk” now has its own vending machine. This“Senlin Yogurt”machine is located right inside Asakusa New World—you can spot it as soon as you enter through the entrance shown in the photo above. There were quite a few people lining up that day too ^~^

Since we wanted to try their most popular drinks this time, we decided to get one from each place just to sample. I had a mildly sweet yogurt, and it tasted really good—cool and refreshing. Coming right after brunch, it almost felt like it aided digestion XD

When you buy such a trendy drink, you’ve got to take a trendy photo too, XD. Luckily, we found a dark brown wooden board here that paired perfectly with the “Senlin Yogurt” aesthetic. Since I usually prefer my yogurt mildly sweet, I can’t really speak for the other flavors. But the design and this mildly sweet experience really won us over. We’ll definitely try the other flavors next time. XD

Tainan is really lively on weekends. From online posts, I discovered a new cultural and creative shop on Guohua Street:“Community Archipelago”—so I made a special trip to check it out. It’s located just a bit next to Zhengxing Café, and its unique old-house redevelopment design is really eye-catching. It feels like a little holiday cottage ^~^

The store offers some cultural and creative products to browse, plus simple light meals and drinks. It’s a great spot to sit and relax when you’re tired from strolling. We wandered casually along Zhengxing Street. We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been here. These days, you can even spot the 【Zhengxing Cats】—those giant white canvas pieces as tall as a person, each painted with a unique cat design. ^~^

The “Zhang Sanfeng Young Hunk Milk Tea. Mua Mua” we wanted to buy doesn’t go on sale until 1:30 PM. So during this downtime, we remembered the previously much-loved Weiai Apartments and decided to come here for a coffee and enjoy some more quality time.

Calling it a homestay doesn’t do it justice—it’s more like a hotel filled with both human warmth and cultural richness. Everyone should check it out. Whether you’re here for a coffee or to stay overnight, it’s a great experience.

We sat here for over an hour, flipping through travel photos on our phones and cameras. It’s one of our favorite and most habitual ways to travel: find a nice homestay or hotel to spend the night, stop by a café for a short break, and try some local snacks and delicacies. All of these help create memories in our lives, and I believe they’ll taste sweet even decades later. Priceless and yet so real. ^~^

After noon, we returned to Zhengxing Street, where the crowd poured out like a flood. It made even trying another roll from Juanwei Family feel like an “impossible mission.” But seeing Tainan’s crowds return makes me genuinely happy. ^~^ While waiting in line for the “Zhang Sanfeng Young Hunk Milk Tea. Mua Mua,” my friend browsed a nearby shop. The masks there had really nice textures, with fine fabric and even 3D tailoring designs. If you’re in the area, it’s worth checking out XD.

The street was packed, but the atmosphere was incredibly joyful and pleasant. This vibe really drew me in. Actually, these 【Zhengxing Cats】 that pop up on weekends serve a purpose—they were designed by the Zhengxing gang as street blockers to turn the area into a pedestrian-only zone. I personally think this part isn’t suitable for cars anyway. The Haian Road underground parking lot is huge. It’s very convenient to park there and walk over. ^~^ While in line, I spotted a cute little boy wearing an adorable little straw hat, just lost in thought. Seeing that made me chuckle secretly. Seriously, that kid was dressed so adorably and fashionably. ^__________^ /

▲ Finally, we joined the linefor the ‘Zhang Sanfeng Young Hunk Milk Tea. Mua Mua’half an hour before it opened. XD The endless line of people made everyone passing by stop and look. Everyone said this was the “young hunk” that made the news. Once it opened, there was a one-bottle limit per person. So even though the young hunk, young milk, and mua mua were right in front of us, we could only pick two @@

In the end, we went for the dashing young hunk + mua mua. I heard the mua mua is even harder to get than the young hunk because they supply fewer bottles. But since we lined up early, we were okay. I think the news mentioned they only make 50 bottles of mua mua per day. XD The mua mua bottle design is seriously adorable. The bottle shape is inspired by the Moai statues on Easter Island in Chile, and it’s called “mua mua” because it implies a “kiss” or “blowing a kiss.” Just look at that mouth—it’s clearly saying “Up.”

The young hunk milk tea has a mildly sweet taste, smooth and not overly sugary. It’s a pretty well-made milk tea. The fun part is the tea color—it looks like the tanned skin of the young hunk, paired with his great physique curves. It’s amusing just to look at. As for the mua mua bottle, I think it’s more memorable. The bottle has a stone-textured design and is thick enough. You could even use it as a vase after drinking? XD Inside is honey sesame fresh milk, which tastes sweet from the honey and fragrant from the sesame. It gives off a healthy vibe. ^~^

We headed to Rainbow Came to check it out and accidentally discovered this place‘Whisky Coffee (Xingxing Food Culture)’ !!! This made me think we might need to visit the restroom more often on Zhengxing Street now—we simply can’t finish all the drinks!! And on the way, we also noticed an interesting phenomenon: lots of people, just like us, were on a ‘Tainan Drink-Hopping Tour’!! So many folks were carrying around Yuanping’s super popular Yuanqi Juice (which we skipped lining up for since we’d tried it before)—it just goes to show everyone’s totally on the go-XD

Actually, I originally came here just because‘Whisky Coffee (Xingxing Food Culture)’ had bottles that looked like whisky bottles!! But after taking one sip, I realized it was actually whisky + coffee!! They also have a liqueur series—the glass bottles have such a nice texture, perfect to bring back to the guesthouse and enjoy slowly in the evening~ The slight tipsy feeling at night makes everything feel so romantic!! ^__________^ /

After drinking so much, hunger is inevitable!! But since breakfast was more like brunch, I didn’t feel like eating too much~ So that day, we decided to pick up‘Jinde Spring Rolls (Yongle Market)’’as an afternoon snack!! XDXD Yongle Market has tons of snacks—you don’t really have to stick to any one spot?! Honestly, just walk around the area, see something you like, and eat it!! There are so many traditional flavors here, it’s really lovable...

Hehe!! One roll each‘Jinde Spring Rolls (Yongle Market)’!! The thin yet elastic wrapper is so satisfying to bite into, and the filling inside is fresh and not greasy—you’ll just keep eating one after another until it’s all gone~ Blanched cabbage, shrimp, tofu skin, egg strips, peanut powder, and a bunch of fresh ingredients make one roll just perfect!! Paired with your drink in hand, it’s the best snack in Tainan ^~^

Tainan feels like a second home to me... I’m getting more and more used to coming back often, falling in love with the vibe here, the people, and even liking the version of myself that keeps returning.
