Although the 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival has ended, its spectacular main lanterns remain fresh in the public’s memory. One of the main lanterns, the “Cosmic Tower,” has now been installed in front of the Taiwan Glass Museum in Lukang, Changhua, and is scheduled to begin a trial lighting display from the 26th. It will then be lit on a regular basis, becoming one of Lukang’s most enchanting night scenes.

Standing approximately 10 meters tall, the “Cosmic Tower” is the world’s first glass lantern art piece, created by 28 glass manufacturers across Taiwan over 12 days using 1,000 pieces of glass. Under changing lights, it presents a magical light sculpture that takes viewers on a journey into the vast galaxy — a spectacle many visitors can’t forget. After the Taiwan Lantern Festival, the Cosmic Tower was moved to the Taiwan Glass Museum for assembly, which was completed on March 31. Even before it’s lit up, it’s already a delightful surprise for those who missed this year’s Taiwan Lantern Festival.
