Cathay Pacific offers self-service check-in at Hong Kong Airport, saving passengers half the time

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair announced the launch of a self-service baggage check-in service at Hong Kong International Airport. Through the new facilities, passengers can check in their luggage themselves, saving up to half the waiting time.

Cathay Pacific stated that the steps for the self-service baggage check-in service include printing and attaching the baggage tag yourself, and then placing the luggage on the conveyor belt. Passengers who have already checked in online, at the airport check-in counter, or at the self-service kiosk can use this service and avoid queuing at the counter to check in their luggage.

Currently, there are 5 self-service baggage check-in counters in the C section of Hong Kong International Airport’s Cathay Pacific check-in area and 4 in the H section of Dragonair’s check-in area. The first phase applies to passengers traveling in Cathay Pacific’s Select Economy Class and Economy Class from Hong Kong to Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore; as well as passengers traveling in Dragonair’s Economy Class from Hong Kong to Chiang Mai, Fukuoka, Kota Kinabalu, Okinawa, Penang, and Phuket.

In addition, Cathay announced earlier this year that it would rebrand Dragonair as “Cathay Dragon.” The first Cathay Dragon aircraft with the new livery also departed from Hong Kong to Beijing on the morning of April 5. To celebrate the launch of the first newly branded Cathay Dragon aircraft, Cathay Dragon has also launched a photo upload campaign, giving passengers the chance to win a model airplane gift set.
