The Keelung Yellow Duck, which unexpectedly burst on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, left duck fans quite shocked. After inspection by staff from the duck manufacturer, Atmosphere Co., they stated that Keelung had been experiencing consecutive days of overcast, rainy, and cold weather, and on December 31, when the temperature warmed up and rose, it caused the internal air pressure of the duck to rise sharply, leading to an outward rupture from within. Atmosphere Co. also mentioned that they have been working day and night recently, and it is estimated that the Yellow Duck will return to Keelung by Saturday.

After inspecting the damage and cause of the Yellow Duck’s rupture on the morning of New Year's Day, staff from Atmosphere Co. explained that due to several days of overcast and cold weather in Keelung, the temperature on December 31 warmed up and rose, causing the internal air pressure of the duck to surge. Additionally, because the Keelung Duck needed to withstand the strong winds of the northeastern monsoon, extra internal adhesive strips were added, turning the inside of the duck into something like a pressure cooker. This ultimately led to the duck rupturing from the inside out. To prevent such a rupture from happening again, the organizers decided to add vents to the tail of the duck and install an additional pressure relief fan inside. When there are climate shifts or temperature changes, the fan can be turned on to help release air, which is expected to effectively prevent the duck from rupturing again.
The organizers stated that the Keelung Yellow Duck has now been repaired. They will assess whether the repair marks affect its appearance before letting the Yellow Duck swim back into Keelung Harbor this Saturday.
